Sophorn Chhuon has been with Campus Dining and a service associate at North Dining Hall since April 2007.
Sophorn has a contagiously positive attitude and is a hard worker. Though English is not Sophorn’s native language, a few years ago she expressed a desire to further her English speaking skills so that she could better communicate with students, guests, coworkers, and supervisors. She enrolled in the University’s “English as a New Language (ENL)” classes and through these classes has both gained a new-found confidence and increased her English speaking skills. She is now better able to communicate to provide suggestions for the improvement of the operations at North Dining Hall. This year she has been a member of the NDH Advisory Committee representing her co-workers on operations and services. In addition, through her role on this committee charged with reviewing the dining hall's ND Voice results, she shared feedback and suggestions and helped to create its action plan. By speaking about her own experiences, Sophorn is now encouraging others to take advantage of the many opportunities the University offers! In December of 2017, Sophorn was nominated for and received the Campus Dining Directors’ Award for Achievement.
