Shout Out Card

A written acknowledgment by the Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Operations for a distinctive performance, service or behavior.

Who is Eligible

All staff members are eligible (part-time, full-time, exempt, non-exempt, temp).

How does an employee earn one?

Individuals receiving these cards must have demonstrated noteworthy performance, service or behavior. Examples Include:

  • A customer provides positive feedback about the employee to the department
  • An employee goes above and beyond on a task or project
  • An employee volunteers for an assignment
  • An employee provides assistance during a difficult time

What is the submission process?

A manager or supervisor should e-mail Jon Adamson at aadamso1@nd.edu with a Shout Out Card request stating the employee's name and the reason for the request


Spot Award

A performance-based award recognizing extraordinary performance over a short time period.

Who is Eligible

All part-time and full-time exempt and non-exempt staff members who have held their position for at least six (6) months are eligible. 

How does an employee earn one?

Individuals receiving these awards must have demonstrated work ethic and behavior in ways such as:

  • Performing a duty with a result significantly above expectations
  • Initiating an improvement or solution
  • Having a high customer impact for the betterment of the department

What is the submission process?

A manager or supervisor must complete the Spot Award Nomination form and submit the completed nomination form to Jon Adamson at aadamso1@nd.edu. Nomination forms will be reviewed by the Auxiliary Operations Awards Committee on an ongoing basis. Managers/supervisors will be notified of the decision. A submitted nomination form does not guarantee an award.

What will a selected employee receive?

A selected employee will receive a $100 Visa Gift Card and a letter from the Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Operations which will be presented by the department director and the manager/supervisor.


Recognition Award

A performance-based award for exceeding one’s job responsibilities or recognizing outstanding achievements performed over an extended period of time, in addition to one’s current assignment.

Who is Eligible

All part-time and full-time exempt and non-exempt staff members are eligible who have had a year-end performance review and did not receive a "Requires Improvement" in the overall goals and values ratings in the most recent performance evaluation.

How does an employee earn one?

Individuals receiving these awards must have demonstrated work ethic and behavior in ways such as:

  • Improving information flow that increases understanding and efficiency of the business
  • Bringing new ideas into the department, significantly improving its ability to reach its goals
  • Dramatically improving team performance through individual leadership

What is the submission process?

A manager or supervisor must complete the Recognition Award Nomination Form and submit it to the department director for review. Directors must submit completed nomination forms to Jon Adamson at aadamso1@nd.edu. Nomination forms will be reviewed by the Auxiliary Operations Awards Committee on an ongoing basis. Department directors will be notified of the decision. A submitted nomination form does not guarantee an award.

What will a selected employee receive?

A selected employee will receive a letter from the AVP, a certificate recognizing his/her achievements, and a monetary award. Awards will be announced and presented by the department director and the manager/supervisor.
