The University of Notre Dame received the 2017 NACCU Best Card Design Award for its soon to be released Irish1Card during the 24th Annual NACCU Conference in Orlando on April 5, 2017. Dan Tormey, Irish1Card Program Director (near left), accepted the award from Danny Smith of ColorID.
The NACCU Best Card Design Award, sponsored by ColorID, is presented to the institution who, after being selected as one of five finalists by the Awards Committee, subsequently receives the most votes from the NACCU members prior to and during the annual conference.
The Irish1Card team worked with the marketing staff in University Communications as well as with other campus stakeholders to develop design options for the new card. Three designs were approved. A campus-wide voting initiative was then held, and 4,600 votes determined the winner. The winning design includes the University’s academic mark in gold foil as well as a tactile impression of the University seal.
The ID card re-design was the initial phase of the roll-out of the Irish1Card, through which the University’s ID card program will transition to contactless technology.
NACCU membership is open to all colleges, universities, secondary institutions and companies that are involved in the campus card market.
